Growing the Crop. Wheat requires higher soil fertility than other grains. It grows thinner or more open allowing weeds to be a little more of a problem. It is also harvested a little later in the year compared to other grain crops. It can only be grown once followed by a break crop.
Suitable Uses. Wheat is a rich high quality feed. It is popular for poultry and finishing livestock. It should be mixed with other grains to give a more balanced diet.
